We made this years blend with 60% Merlot from the outstanding 2009 harvest and added 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. The result is a luscious affair -- smooth, velvety berry flavors and rich tobacco undertones.

Indigenous 2008

in•dig•e•nous [in-dig-uh-nuhs] adjective having originated in and being produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment.

Our first blend made from 100% Mountfair estate grown fruit.  A blend of 50% Petit Verdot and 50% Cabernet Franc. These are the two varietals that Virginia has become well known for, Cabernet Franc expressive of red & blackberry fruits, tobacco and peppery spices blended with the robustness, jamminess and round tannins of Petit Verdot.

Belated 2008

Delayed beyond the usual time - This release, the 2008 Belated, is a 24 month aged Merlot blend.  This velvety smooth creation contains 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.  Belated has deep berry undertones and a rich clean finish.

woo•loo•moo•loo [wu' lu mu' lu] noun a mythical spirit that roams the Blue Ridge Mountains. Aboriginal derivative.

A long, hot, 2008 summer yielded exceptional fruit with big sugars and great balance -- and this Petit Verdot may be the richest we've harvested. The blend is a dark, brooding affair with a medley of violet hues, rich berry flavors and ends with a big long finish. Great with a grilled meat dish or try with football game chili.

Inaugural 2008

Virginia's favorite grape Cabernet Franc blended with 34% Merlot, this smooth Bordeaux-style wine is our first offering from the outstanding 2008 vintage. A hot dry summer drove grape sugars to unprecedented levels resulting in a wine bursting with ripe berry flavors balanced by a chewy tartness and chalky tannins.

Belated 2007

Delayed beyond the usual time - Belated was aged for over two years. Made mostly from Merlot and benefits from a blend of 35% Cab Franc and just a hint of Cab Sauvignon. It's richly smooth with pronounced flavors of cherries, peppery spices and hints of rosemary. The extended oak aging provides for a lingering finish.
